A Brief Resume

‘Sarsuna’ is one of the ancient places of immense historical importance. The glorious days of the Great Mughal Dynasty had imparted its splendour on the development of this area, particularly Barisha and Behala. During the legacy of the East India Company, initiative was taken to impart all round educational system --- oriental as well as western in Sarsuna, Behala and Barisha. The co-existence of the oriental and western educational system of organisations had given birth to a multicultural concert that ultimately resulted into a cross fertilization. Interdependence of oriental and western attitude to life in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century served to achieve a ‘Consensus’ between two diverse cultures. Sarsuna, Behala, Barisha, as parts of the then Bengal, naturally remained loyal to the said ‘Consensus’ ‘Sarsuna College’ and ‘Sarsuna Law College’ are two products of the same ‘Consensus’, already mentioned here in this profile.

‘Sarsuna Educational Society’ in historical perspective needs no introduction. The noble idea of the said Society of bringing legal education and study within the reach of widest possible part of our South Bengal is being followed sincerely and faithfully after establishment of the ‘Sarsuna Law College’ in 2004, is another example.

With the laudable objective of providing quality legal education on self-financing basis, the highly distinguished members of the Governing Body of the ‘Sarsuna Educational Society’ with all sorts of assistance from the management of the Sarsuna College succeeded in the establishment of the ‘Sarsuna Law College’.

The members of the Organizing Governing Body solemnly resolve to constitute the ‘Sarsuna Law College’ with the sole object to enrich legal profession with its pristine glory as the participants are required to be thoroughly disciplined to bloom into a legal professional and to remember as one of the best Law Colleges in the country, by imparting quality legal education with thrust on betterment of society. The college has as its primary mission, for the creation of the generation diligent, methodical, competent and human lawyers who will not only enter the Bar and the Bench but will also be equipped to address effectively the imperatives of the new Millennium.

The study of law is a scientific, philosophical and metaphysical enquiry to question, affirm and reaffirm the fundamental principles of a social order. Law is not the reflection of the State’s regimentation of aesthetic expression or artistic creation but the reflection of a community’s Cultural norms on which mores of law are to develop.

Today ‘ The changing concept of Law has become a house-hold word and the world needs a new dynamic Jurisprudence of Law for the new age. Sarsuna Law College is not an ‘Isolated World’ and so it wants to keep it’s tune with the ‘Changing world of Law’. Thus, this School has adopted different distinctive dynamic studies of law for the law students who are the social engineers of future, for example,

Cyber Space Laws, Insurance Laws Air & Space Laws, Law & Biotechnology, Computer Laws, Information Technology Laws, Law relating to Human Rights, International Economic Laws etc.
