FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY

Law is an instrument of social change or as Justice Holmes put it a “Flexible instrument of social order”.
For advancement of civilization Law is a must. To keep tune with the time, there are legal luminaries to excel in ridding society of mounting problems making and unmaking laws by legislation, lively at one and listless at the other. Now Lawyers are necessary adjuncts to courts because courts cannot function without lawyers – they are the salt of judicial system.
In modern India there is growing demand for study in law The number of Colleges in Law in the city of Kolkata is perhaps not more than four only and ‘Sarsuna Law College’ at Sarsuna Satellite Township, Kolkata - 700 0061, affiliated to Vidyasagar University, West Bengal, offering 3 year LL.B course, is only one of those Law Colleges at Kolkata, the only exception, in this regard.
This institution – ‘Sarsuna Law College’ established in 2004, I believe, will grow from strength to strength and continue to play great role in implementation of dynamic principles and undaunted war against all forms of injustice and succeed in the great mission to establish an egalitarian society where no rights of a human-being are infringed, where the law shall disarm the strong and arm the week, end the astrocities being committed by the strong on the downtrodden, the have-nots – ‘The poorest, the lowest and the lost.’
In view of the pronouncement made by the Supreme Court the right to life includes the right to education. Personal liberty includes right to receive Law education also and right to receive education is a fundamental right, floring from the right to life.
This institution earnestly endeavours to promote and develop all round legal knowledge as well as professional skills, so that the future lawyers can accept the challenge of removing all impediments standing in the way of establishing human dignity, equality and liberty for the welfare of the society.
